美国时间2月4日，国际电影音乐评论协会(IFMCA)宣布2015年度提名名单，老将约翰威廉姆斯John Williams和Ennio Morricone领跑，Michael Giacchino也获得多项提名，其次是已去世的作曲家James Horner。
83岁的约翰威廉姆斯获得了四项提名，皆来自J. J. Abrams执导的年度大片《星球大战：原力觉醒》（Star Wars: The Force Awakens），包括年度最佳配乐、最佳幻想/科幻/恐怖片配乐、年度最佳电影音乐作曲，以及年度最佳作曲家。威廉姆斯曾获得IFMCA协会31次提名，12次获奖，其中包括2005年度最佳配乐《艺妓回忆录》和2011年度最佳配乐《战马》。
87岁的意大利传奇作曲家Ennio Morricone也获得了四项提名，来自昆汀·塔伦蒂诺的《八恶人》，包括年度最佳配乐、最佳剧情类配乐、年度最佳电影音乐作曲，以及年度最佳作曲家。Morricone曾获得IFMCA协会7次提名，最近的一次提名是1999年度最佳配乐《海上钢琴师》。
Michael Giacchino的提名来自三部作品：《头脑特工队》的最佳动画配音；《木星上行》的年度最佳配乐和最佳幻想/科幻/恐怖片配乐；《明日世界》的年度最佳电影音乐作曲。Giacchino曾获得IFMCA协会31次提名，12次获奖，他2004年的《超人总动员》和2009年的《飞屋环游记》皆获得最佳配乐，并同时获得年度最佳作曲家。
詹姆斯·霍纳（James Horner）去年6月因飞机失事不幸去世，这次他也获得了三项提名，来自中文电影《狼图腾》，包括年度最佳配乐、最佳剧情类配乐、年度最佳电影音乐作曲。霍纳同时也获得了年度最佳作曲家提名，成为第一位去世的作曲家获得该项提名。在此之前，他共获得IFMCA协会14次提名，并因1998年《佐罗的面具》获奖。
其他获得年度最佳配乐提名的作品还有Patrick Doyle的《灰姑娘》，而2015年写了好几部优秀配乐作品的Daniel Pemberton也在年度最佳作曲家的竞争行列，其作品包括《秘密特工》和《史蒂夫·乔布斯》。
每年IFMCA都会依据它自身的标准来选出全世界电影音乐界的新兴人才，今年也不例外。今年的突破作曲家提名包括另类流行乐队Cat's Eyes——由音乐家Faris Badwan和意大利女高音/作曲家/演奏家Rachel Zeffira组成，他们为英国实验性情色影片《勃艮第公爵》写作了一部梦幻般的配乐；英国作曲家Gareth Coker为游戏《奥日与黑暗森林》所作配乐；瑞典作曲家Ludwig Göransson为拳王影片《奎迪》所作配乐；意大利作曲家Maurizio Malagnini为英国幻想电影《彼得潘与温蒂》和电视剧《呼叫助产士》所作配乐；西班牙作曲家Diego Navarro为动画片《青睐之光》所作配乐。
一如往常，IFMCA也会给整个电影音乐界的作曲家颁发荣誉。今年的国际提名包括法国作曲家Armand Amar为纪录片《人类》所作配乐；匈牙利作曲家Robert Gulya为马克·吐温的经典音乐剧《汤姆索亚历险记》所作配乐；阿根廷作曲家Federico Jusid为西班牙电视剧《卡洛斯帝王》所作配乐；资深法国作曲家Michel Legrand为喜剧片《成名的代价》所作配乐；西班牙作曲家Fernando Velázquez为哥特式恐怖影片《猩红山峰》所作配乐；法国-黎巴嫩作曲家Gabriel Yared为动画片《先知》所作配乐。
